If I have to use a primer first, why bother? I find that Bobbi Brown Cream shadows in natural colors work better from me than this paint pot does.įalse MAC Painterlily Paint Pot works wonders!!! In conclusion, I have to say that despite it being nice in theory, this paint pot is just not good for me to use. I also find that the texture of this paint pot accents crepe texture on the eyes.Īs a base, I find that the texture does not hold most shadows like Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer does. Secondly, not only does this paint pot not stay on if my eyes water (such as crying or allergy eyes), if I use this paint pot more than one or two days, my eye lids get very raw and sore. However, if my eyes water, it does not stay on- but it cracks and comes off. When Painterly came out, I made sure to grab a jar immediately so I could use it for a base and a natural eye finish for a nude look in makeup.įirst of all, MAC Paint Pot in Painterly is a matte flesh toned paint pot which is supposed to be applied right to the skin. The promise was that these paint pots were going to take the place of MAC Paints which tended to be a bit irritating and frustrating to work with for some people. When MAC first came out with their paint pots, I thought it would be an exciting development. True MAC Paint Pot in Painterly is one of my very favoite makup items

They make other neutral shades as well, such as Bare Ochre, which is more suited towards lighter skin types.

And Painterly just happens to be one of my favorites All of the colors are excellent! Forgets other primers this should be your go-to. I have never found a product comparable to MAC's Paint Pots. The eye shadows go on more vibrantly You can see the colors more than if you applied them directly to the lid. I apply this to my eyelid, put some powder over it to set it, then apply my eyeshadow and eyeliner. It also lasts a really long time I get a new pot every few months. I have very oily eye lids, and when I say that the eye shadow doesn't go ANYWHERE, I mean it! Say good bye to creases and fading colors. Painterly is a neutral cream that I use as an eyeshadow primer. I think I have gone through at least 5 pots of MAC's Paint Pots in Painterly this year. When I wash off my makeup in the evening, it is sometimes the only thing besides my mascara that is still on. It doesn't crease at all and lasts all day long. I have tried many other eye primers, and they just don't have the coverage that the paint pot has. This stuff is talked about so much for a reason. I usually use a concealer brush to apply it and then I set it with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I like to add Rosehip Seed Oil so that my lids get a little extra hydration, and it also helps the paint pot to be a little more spreadable. It is the one thing that really brightens up my appearance and makes me look alive. The paint pot is amazing for covering up the imperfections and prepping my lids for eye shadow, but most days I just wear it on it's own. I have very fair skin, and unfortunately my eyelids are super purple and my veins stick out pretty obviously. Update: I just tried to smudge and blend them, and they didn’t budge! Staying power supreme.I use this for my eyelids everyday. Mac Paint Pots are £16 on their website or Debenhams if you live in the UK, and Maybellines Colour Tattoo can be bought in any local drug store. I bought mine from Boots for around £5. I suppose you can tell from these which is right for you, but if Mac’s prices aren’t in your budget then the slight difference isn’t even worth a gander. Now, to me the Colour Tattoo pot looks slightly more muted than the Mac version, but the Mac holds more of an orange based undertone. As you can see, the Colour Tattoo is slightly on the pink side, but not by much when swatched. Okay so my Mac Paint Pot on the left is in the shade Painterly, and the product on the right is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hour, Creamy Mattes version in the colour Creme de Rose.

I don’t remember ever buying the dupe but I appear to have it, so I unscrewed them and swatched them just to make sure that they’re actually good dupes and well, see for your self: So I’m getting all my makeup out to snapchat my friend (we are having makeup wars and a showing off session) and I notice that I have this MAC paint pot, and a colour of a different brand that’s pretty much the same.
